about

Carrie says: A Moment of Clarity was written and recorded before David joined the band, and we wanted to better reflect how the song sounds now. We love this song, and lots of people have told us that they love it too. We hope they love this version even better.

The song is about the kind of sadness that weighs your bones down, the kind of sadness that stops you functioning and tries to persuade you that there's nothing worth living for. Sometimes just knowing other people have experienced the same sadness can help. I know it helped me.

lyrics

You've been so terribly sad for a long time
Been drowning your demons for what feels like a lifetime
There are places to go for what you want to know
God knows I've been there too
But the world can't turn without you

This is a wake up call
This is a moment of clarity
Please don't leave
When it hurts to keep keeping on
When it hurts to keep breathing
Lean on me

And nobody knows 'cause you won't let them in
The face that you show, a rictus grin
There are things you decide when you're too sad to cry
God knows I've been there too
But there'd be nothing good in this world without you

This is a wake up call
This is a moment of clarity
Please don't leave
When it hurts to keep keeping on
When it hurts to keep breathing
Lean on me
Lean on, lean on, lean on me

about

HAVR Glasgow, UK

HAVR make big music. It’s music born of love and of loss, of hope and of heartbreak, the sound of big hearts beating inside bruised bodies.

HAVR are Kenny Martin (bass), David Marshall (guitar) and Carrie Marshall (guitar/vocals).

Influenced by post-punk, pristine pop and power trios, Kenny, David and Carrie are having too much fun to stick to a single genre.
